Project Overview

Located in Cottesloe, this project involves extensive alterations and additions to an existing two-storey residence, with the aim of modernising the home while improving its relationship to the street. The design retains the primary built form, introducing targeted interventions that enhance both functionality and overall presentation within the established coastal context.

The approach focuses on reworking the internal layout to create a more cohesive and connected living environment. A new open-plan kitchen, dining and living zone anchors the ground floor, extending directly to landscaped outdoor areas including an alfresco and pool. Subtle refinements to the front façade maintain the existing proportions while introducing a more contemporary expression, ensuring the home remains aligned with the surrounding streetscape.

The residence is designed to prioritise flexibility, flow and everyday usability. Reconfigured bedrooms and adaptable spaces support evolving living arrangements, while the upper level accommodates a private master retreat alongside additional living zones with outlook toward the street and ocean. Improved internal connections, including direct access from the undercroft garage and dedicated entertaining areas, enhance circulation throughout the home. Careful consideration of setbacks, massing and glazing ensures the design responds sensitively to neighbouring properties while delivering a refined, modern living environment.
